Garage conversion creating open-plan entertaining space
Our clients returned to us after having a loft conversion a few years ago and wanted to now make better use of their double garage, which was underutilised and disconnected from the house. Their goal was to create a larger, more inviting space for entertaining family and friends. The existing dining room felt cramped, and the garage’s potential was going to waste. The challenge was to integrate part of the garage into the main house seamlessly while retaining a functional single garage.

The Vision
The clients envisioned a spacious, open-plan entertaining area that would become the heart of their home. They wanted a bright and airy feel, with plenty of natural light and easy access to the garden. The design aimed to create a versatile space for both family gatherings and social occasions, blending comfort with a modern aesthetic while maintaining the practicality of a single garage for storage and parking.

Before & After
Before – The original dining space felt tight and underused due to its limited size, while the expansive double garage remained largely wasted space.
After – The new open-plan entertaining space is bright, spacious, and welcoming, flooded with natural light from the rooflights, French doors, and new and existing front window. The lovely green tone walls contrast beautifully with the crisp white woodwork, enhancing the sense of light and space. The remaining garage has been transformed into a more modest yet functional area, perfectly suited to the clients’ needs.
