We’re excited to share that Home Extension Team (Hitchin) Ltd has recently transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), meaning the business is now co-owned by the very team who bring the projects to life.
Founder Steve and long-standing Director Ananda are stepping back from day-to-day leadership and passing the reins to the existing team. It’s a significant moment, one made with the future firmly in mind and complete confidence in the talented people continuing Steve’s 35-year legacy.
“Without doubt, the best staff members I have ever had. The company is in the best hands I could have hoped for.”
Steve, Founder of Home Extension Team
What Is an Employee Ownership Trust?
An Employee Ownership Trust is a structure where 100% of the company shares are held by a Trust for the benefit of the employees. It creates a stable, long-term ownership model that gives the team a direct stake in the company’s success.
For us, it’s a way of securing everything that makes Home Extension Team (Hitchin) unique – the team, values, culture, quality, and commitment, all whilst strengthening the business for the future.
What Does This Mean for Our Clients and Suppliers?
In practical terms: nothing changes. You’ll still be dealing with the same familiar faces. Our contact details, and working practices remain exactly the same. We’re continuing business as usual, just with a renewed sense of pride and purpose behind the scenes.
David and Theresa are the appointed Trustee Directors and will continue to lead Home Extension Team (Hitchin). Together with the whole team they remain dedicated to delivering high-quality home extension and renovation projects, just as they always have.
Why We Chose This Path
The EOT model allows us to protect the values that matter most to us: trust, teamwork, professionalism and expertise. By giving employees a stake in the business, we’re investing in long-term stability for our clients, our suppliers, and our people.
It also means the people you work with are even more motivated to go the extra mile, because they’re not just employees, they’re co-owners.
What Has Been the Team’s Reaction?
We’re proud, excited, and ready for this new chapter.
The transition has been welcomed with enthusiasm across the business. For many of us this is more than a job. Becoming co-owners is a recognition of the care, expertise, and hard work that each of us brings to the company.
We’re looking forward to growing the business together and continuing to serve our clients with the same dedication and high standards you’ve come to expect.
A Quick Note on Home Extension Team (St Albans)
It’s worth noting that this transition applies to Home Extension Team (Hitchin) Ltd only. Our St Albans location continues to operate as an independent “sister” company and is not included in the EOT transition.
